Club rego. The ultimate guide.

Club rego. The ultimate guide.

Club rego. Club permit. Club permit scheme. My car is old as, I barely drive it on weekends, but I want to be able to take it out whenever I want without paying a fortune to VicRoads.

Well, this is the answer you are looking for. In Victoria, VicRoads offers a club permit scheme for eligible vehicles, of which most people tend to use the historic vehicle category. This allows people who have cars older than 25 years to be able to register them at a fraction of the cost of normal registration because they know that these cars are getting driven once a week, maybe if they are lucky.

So now you know the solution to your answer. How do you actually get on the club permit scheme. The hardest part is understanding what you need to do to be able to get on this scheme. Trust me, I know. I was googling for ages trying to figure out how the hell I could get my S13 on club permit becuase it was just not feasible at the time to drive it everyday. A shit ton of googling (back then AI was barely introduced) and reading on forums I found that the options were either too expensive, too involving, or just straight up unclear and slow.

So, that is when I created my own club, in which, I can endorse club permits. AALIM Motor Club is a registered club with VicRoads, and I have gotten numerous vehicles already on the club permit scheme hassle-free, and promptly. So, what is that you need to do?

It is honestly so simple. It is legit a 4 step process.

  1. Purchase my membership to become an official member of the club, and then fill out the forms that get sent to you.
  2. Send back the required photos and documentation (RWC required for new permits. For transferring clubs, it isn't)
  3. The application is reviewed, and then the signed documents are sent back to you.
  4. You take the forms into your local VicRoads, and they will issue you the plates and logbook.

That is it. Genuinely. Like, why isnt this written in more places. Why do people make it so confusing.

With club rego, you can get a 45 or 90 day permit, depending on how often you plan to drive your car. All you need to do is, whenever you take the car out, just fill out your logbook, and enjoy!

So yeah, this is literally all. A simple, succint, accurate club permit guide. If your vehicle is eligible and want to save paying your hard earned dollars to VicRoads, click here to get started!

Hope you learned something from this write up. I will do more write ups of random things I have learned along the way with my experience in the car world. This can range from wiring to maybe even in detail engineering in the future hopefully.

Lets see where it goes. Anyways, see you in the next one :)
